Pre and Post-Operative Care
Whether you’re booked in for surgery or you’ve just had an operation, there’s lots of work for you to
do. Pre-operative conditioning aims to increase your strength and mobility as much as possible so
that you go into your operation in good shape. This will massively improve the quality and speed of
your recovery after surgery.
Once the surgeon has done their job, it’s then up to you to recover properly. The effects an injury, an
operation and the subsequent period of rest, often causes marked deconditioning throughout the
body. Our physiotherapists have a wealth of experience in managing post-operative rehabilitation
and tracking progress to make sure you’re on course for a full recovery. The aim of post-operative
rehabilitation is not to get you back to pre-operative baseline, but to surpass your previous fitness
levels to ensure you get back to doing what you love, without any subsequent complications or long
term deficits. At Spires Physiotherapy, we objectively measure range of motion and strength using
force dynamometers to ensure that we can track your improvement accurately.
